Main responsibilities:

Manage and maintain all plant and machinery on site:

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards and any other associated production processes
  • Plan and organise maintenance of equipment
  • Identify any faults, investigate production issues, and repair plant and equipment quickly and efficiently
  • Conduct plant, equipment, and process risk assessments
  • Ensure all plant, equipment and processes meet health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements
  • Manage and maintain plant and machinery asset registers
  • Train our Manufacturing Technicians in the safe use of plant and equipment
  • Provide consultancy support to various departments including Production, Projects, Design, Sales and Research & Development

Identify and investigate improvement opportunities:

  • Introduction of new products or improvements
  • Take manufacturing processes from concept and trial to full-scale manufacture
  • Specify plant and equipment, and provide cost justifications, ensuring highest quality obtained at the best price
  • Layout and design production units, run capital expenditure projects, install, and commission equipment and documentation
  • Manage and liaise with subcontractors, ensuring all relevant RAMS in place and issue permits to work
  • Provide training to production teams and sign off production processes

Ideal candidate:

  • Qualified mechanical or electrical engineer
  • From a manufacturing or production engineering background
  • Experienced in maintaining plant and machinery within a busy manufacturing/production facility
  • Knowledgeable in a range of engineering functions, processes, and procedures
  • Practical and logical in their approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work well under pressure; working to tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills; confident in dealing with internal and external people across all levels
  • Sound understanding of PUWER (Provision and Use of Working Equipment Regulations) and other associated regulations
  • Strong health and safety knowledge and understanding (IOSH desirable)
  • LEAN production qualification/experience desirable

This is a full time, permanent position working 08:00-16:45 Monday-Thursday and 08:00-12:30 Fridays (37.5 hours per week); flexibility around working hours/days/times may be required in line with needs of the business.
